The WIN Strategic Compass

The WIN Strategic Compass is designed to guide the integration of economic indicators, policies, programs, and related resources with a state’s or region’s economic priorities. A unique tool, the WIN Strategic Compass is an online service that can be accessed by multiple stakeholders interested in the economic well-being of a specific geographic region. The WIN Strategic Compass integrates several elements that are often contained in separate software packages, such as indicator dashboards, economic analyses, strategic plans, and resource allocations aimed at improving the economy. Most importantly, the WIN Strategic Compass allows thought leaders the ability to create, monitor, and improve their competitiveness agenda.

The WIN Strategic Compass has the capability to display relational data in a manner that “tells” the users it is necessary to update their strategic plans, alter their programs, or shift resources to allow for changes in underlying data supporting their current priorities, targets, and goals.

Users of the strategic compass are process owners from education, economic, and workforce development. Users are able to link local initiatives to state and federal initiatives. Linking strategies can be customized for local, state, and federal regions, such as local workforce investment areas.

WIN staff works with the state to determine the vision, mission, and strategic intent for clients using the WIN Strategic Compass. The WIN Strategic Compass allows users to implement Malcolm Baldrige principles into their work flows, workforce and education processes and to do ROI studies on the effectiveness of related programs.
